We apply annually to the Spirit of New Zealand to send a team of year 10 students to Auckland for a 5 day voyage aboard the Spirit of New Zealand. Applicants are chosen by our Deputy Principal, in charge of co-curricular and our Sports Coordinator.
Bream Bay College has the opportunity to apply for berths to sail on the R Tucker Thompson throughout the year. This is available for students from year 9 and above.
Year 8 students visit Shakespear Lodge on the Whangaparoa Penninsula. This 4 night stay costs approximately $350 per student.
As part of the Year 13 curriculum, students are expected to attend the Leadership Camp. It usually held during week 3 of Term 1 for up to 4 days at a Venue in Northland. Activities include, team building, leadership training, swimming, kayaking, tramping and cooking. The approximate cost per student is $160.
The M People camp is held in Term 1 each year over 1-2 nights. This is for Senior students from year 11 to 13. In recent years this camp has been held at the Waipu Cove Surf Club and the cost is approximately $60 per student.
Bream Bay College offers trips overseas for interested students. There have been visits to Samoa, New Caledionia, Japan and Europe. Students will be given information about these trips well in advance. On odd years our sister school (Higashi Senior High) will be hosting Bream Bay College students in Osaka, Japan and on even years Bream Bay College host students from Higashi.
Each year our Health and Wellbeing council hold a colour run to raise funds for Mental Health Awareness.
Each year we hold a Themed Ball for our Senior Students.
We have four Councils: Health & Wellbeing Council, Student Council, Cultural Council and Sports Council. Each council runs termly events based on a theme or charity.
Various curriculum based trips are held throughout the year for all students. For more information regarding these trips please contact the subject teacher involved. Activity costs vary. Poor Knights, Goat Island, Dance Shows in Auckland, Lantern Festival, Tongariro National Park and many more trips each year are run.
