Kia ora koutou
How are you? Please let us know if we can help.
By now you will have heard that we running under Alert Level 3, at least until mid-night on Monday 18th of October. This will mean that all classes will be online on Monday – term 4 start. We will confirm what is happening for the rest of week 1 after the Monday 18th Covid 19 press conference.
WE will be running 4 classes per day
Period 1 at 9.00am,
Period 2 at 10.00am,
Period 3 at 11.00am and
Period 4 at 12.00am.

Students at school during Alert Level 3

  • We will use the list of students we had from the last lockdown as the list of students who will be at school under Alert Level 3.
  • Please email mbayer@breambaycollege.school.nz if you wish to have a child added to this list.
  • The students at school will be run in a bubble of 10.
  • They will need to always wear masks while inside.
  • Their Supervising teachings will also always wear masks while inside.

School buses

  • We have been now advised that all students 12 years old or older will need to wear face masks when traveling on the school buses.
  • We will ensure hand sanitiser is also provided. Please note that the MoE is not providing this on their buses.

  • The school is now required to keep a vaccination register that contains the vaccination status of covid 19 for each student.
  • If a student / family refuses to state the child’s vaccination status, we are required to mark them as unvaccinated.
  • If / when a case does come north and a student in the school has covid 19 this register will be used to assess if the whole school needs to go into lockdown for at least 2 school weeks or just a selected number of close contact students.
  • With NCEA exams approaching we wish to have our register sorted very quickly and accurately and hopefully the levels of vaccination shown would prevent a whole school lockdown especially in these crucial times for our senior students.
  • The College has agreed to having vaccination services made available on its site. Our expectation is that parents would consent to their children being vaccinated.
  • If you have not been vaccinated, then the Bream Bay Medical Centre is running drop in vaccinations as part of the “Vax a thon” on Saturday between 9.00am and 3.00pm at the Marsden Cove Marina Medical Centre.

Attendance is important

  • The teachers will continue to provide a full learning program to the students who attend.
  • Students who do not attend are missing out.
  • Please help us and them by ensuring that all of our students attend classes.

  • Sandra Hayward is continuing to look after any device issues.
  • Please email Sandra shayward@breambaycollege.school.nz if you have an issue with devices or connectivity.
  • We have a number of loan devices out that may no longer be need if the child’s device has now been repaired or replaced. Please return these through Sandra so they can be reissued if needed.

  • All College staff will be tested and have returned a negative Covid test before they return to site at Alert Level 2  and
  • Any staff that are not double vaccinated will be tested weekly
  • By January 1st all College staff will be double vaccinated so testing will not be required unless they are symptomatic.

Sickness prevention

  • Any child or staff member who is sick can’t attend school under Alert Level 3 or below. This applies to children of essential workers attending under Alert Level 3.
  • Hand sanitizing and surface cleaning will remain until you are notified otherwise.
